Experience the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and elegance at this home overlooking the waters of Lake Como. This home is a great retreat for family and friends – we love the infinity pool and Jacuzzi with its incredible views of the lake and mountains. The vistas don’t end outside though – there’s a panoramic outlook from most of the rooms of this home. Special features include a cinema room, gym area and a pool table, and every bedroom has an en-suite. The location is fantastic too – situated on the Western coast of Lake Como, it has easy access to gems such as Varenna.

We defy anyone to look through this home's photos and not feel instantly at ease. It's something to do with the ample amounts of space, cleansing white walls and large arched windows that look out over rooftops and also flood the interior with sunshine.

The design is definitely sparse, although we think there are enough personal touches to ward off accusations of anonymity. The floral-style lampshade in the bedroom is eye-catching and we also like the vintage travel adverts hanging in frames on the wall.

However, don't be surprised if you don't actually spend all too much time in the apartment. The home's position in the Mezzegra region is simply gorgeous, helped by the fact that the banks of Lake Como can be reached in five minutes' walk. Villa del Balbianello takes forty-five minutes to reach on foot, while you catch a ferry to the town of Bellagio in just over an hour.

Petite and pretty, you'll find this home right on the edge of Lake Como, near the centre of Tremezzo. It's ideal for couples or very small families who are looking for some peace and quiet to enjoy this idyllic corner of Italy. 

The kitchen is ready for you to whip up some delicious meals, or simply arrange some antipasti, depending on what you feel like. Mix an Aperol Spritz and head out to the patio to enjoy your apperitif in the fresh air with a view of the lake – your host will even provide comfortable deckchairs and tables. If you need to catch up on emails then there's a dedicated workspace, and at the end of the day you'll love curling up in the perfect pink bedroom. 

You can walk to the centre of Tremezzo and the famous Villa Carlotta in only eight minutes from here, and you're also close to Scalo di Villa Carlotta ferry landing, which can take you around the lake to several points of interest. Plus, the city centre of Como is around a forty-minute drive away – visit the cathedral and wander along the promenade before you hop on the funicular railway for an excellent view.

After being occupied by the same family for five generations, this home lay uninhabited for several decades before it was treated to a complete renovation. Today, the thought that this remarkable home lay unappreciated for so long makes us slightly sad.

The views alone are worth a stay here. From the two terraces, you get a sensational panorama of Lake Como, the mountains surrounding the waters and some of the local area's spectacular buildings, like Villa Balbianello. With a pair of loungers and an alfresco dining table, you can pass hours upon hours with this backdrop for company.

Back inside the home, some period features, like the exposed brickwork, have been tastefully retained, while many of the more modern additions are vintage in style, such as the copper bathtub in one of the bedrooms, the tiled flooring and the mighty wooden dining table. The kitchen is as contemporary as they come, however.

The local village of Mezzegra on your doorstep has restaurants, a bakery and a handful of historic churches to wander between. The banks of the lake can also be reached in ten minutes on foot, while Monte Crocione sits behind the property if you're up for a challenge.

This quirky holiday home was once an old hay barn, and dates back 180 years. It’s been lovingly converted into a charming holiday apartment, an ideal base for a couple wanting to get out and explore the Great Outdoors. 

The apartment is in the old town of Bolvedro, where you can meander the narrow pedestrian streets with gelato in hand. It’s a wonderful base for visiting the towns and villages of Lake Como, with beautiful Varenna and Bellagio within easy reach. Hop on a ferry to explore, or go by foot – this home is right on the Greenway di Lago hiking trail, after all. 

You can stroll to the shore of Lake Como in three minutes, or even closer to home, spend time in the lovely gardens. Pick fresh figs, grapes and plums for breakfast, and fire up the barbecue for dinner. You’ll fall in love with this home, just as we did.

This apartment caught our eye for its views across Lake Como. Best enjoyed from the private balcony while sipping an espresso in the morning or a Prosecco as the sun goes down, you can also see the water from the open-plan living area and bedroom. While the access via a cobbled path and steep stone steps means this home may not be suitable for those with limited mobility, we think it’s a great option for a couple wanting a fuss-free stay in a beautiful location. 

Tranquility Lodge

You’re perfectly placed to explore Como’s hotspots from these two self-contained apartments set in the Tremezzina region, where the three legs of the lake meet. Ideal for two families or couples wanting to holiday together without overcrowding each other, the views of Mezzegra’s rooftops are charming from the first-floor apartment, and the private courtyard leading off the ground-floor home is a bonus. At full occupancy, the last four guests will sleep on small sofa beds in the living spaces. While this is fine for children sharing or a single adult, it won’t suit everyone.

Como Charmer

This Lake Como abode comprises three studios, allowing guests to live autonomously and socialise as much or as little as they like in between discovering the area's natural beauty. Just a stone's throw away from the waterfront, the garden and patio present picturesque views over the lake, making it a sweet spot for enjoying alfresco meals or an Italian aperitif in the sunshine. While public transport is available, and you'll be within walking distance of the centre of Tremezzo, we recommend hiring a car to discover the other towns and villages surrounding the lake. 




The Pine Tree

Granted, this might not be the largest apartment in our Lake Como collection, but the views seen from the private balcony more than make up for that. It's worth noting that, at full occupancy, two guests will share a sofa bed in the lounge. However, the small playroom is an unexpected perk that would suit a small family. Set in the lakeside village of Mezzegra, you're just a short walk from the pebble beach, a bakery, a restaurant and shops. For any more bustle, including Lake Como (30 kilometres), we recommend hiring a car.


Duchy of Como

If you’re looking for a home with a view, then how about this apartment, which has captivating Lake Como vistas from its small balcony? Inside, the open-plan living space sleeps two guests on a sofa bed at full capacity. We love the outlook from the dining table here, too – at this home, you can create wonderful memories. Set in the town of Menaggio with its lakeside promenade, you’ll have plenty to occupy your time or go for a scenic hike in the nearby mountains. With its fantastic location, this apartment is the perfect retreat.

Escape to the shores of Lake Como with a stay in this peaceful retreat. You’ll be welcomed by stunning views, a serene garden and an infinity pool for refreshing dips. There’s also a terrace with a barbecue for alfresco dining and you’ll find plenty of space inside to stretch out and unwind. Located on the edge of Lake Como, this historic home welcomes you to an atmospheric waterfront escape. Combining tradition and contemporary comfort, the rooms are well suited to groups in search of ease and relaxation. Highlights include the sweet little balcony and the views, plus your host can arrange welcome packs and housekeeping. It’s worth noting the stairs do not have a handrail so this may not be the best option for families with young children, but you will find this is a great base for a lakeside adventure. From here, it’s a short stroll to cafes, bars and restaurants, while the ferry is just 400 metres away.

This apartment will be an irresistible option for those in search of impressive views of Lake Como. The central location is equally appealing – making it easy to walk to the nearest beach (Molo di sotto), set sail on boat trips and savour delicious Italian meals in local restaurants. Back at home, you can unwind on the little balcony or in the living room. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed, but this is a great option for families in search of simplicity and comfort. Children’s amenities can be provided and your host can help organise extras like breakfast and housekeeping.

That said, it’s all beautifully cared for and perfect for a small family sharing. Nestled in the quaint village of Perledo, you’ve got all of Lake Como’s best bits within easy reach, starting with Varenna, just a short drive away. Or hop on the nearby ferry to other hotspots including Lecco, Bergamo, and Milan.

Let’s talk about that view. There’s nothing better than sitting out on the sunny wrought-iron balcony and gazing out over the azure water of Lake Como, flanked dramatically by forest-green mountains. You can practically taste the fresh air from this spot. Heading inside, this studio apartment boasts a surprising amount of space to spread out. The pristine white motif feels sunny and bright, with pops of lightwood and green pot plants adding something homely. In the kitchen, your host leaves some local goodies – balsamic vinegar, hazelnut cookies and fresh fruit – for your arrival. And espresso pods are at the ready for a coffee overlooking the water. This apartment sits in the heart of Varenna, a short walk from the picturesque Lake Como. Shops, restaurants, and the train station are also nearby, putting you in a prime position to explore both near and far. While the fuss-free interiors aren't the most exciting, we think this is a practical option for families and friends. The balcony is a lovely spot to relax with a glass of wine – even if it's overlooked a bit by neighbours – and the kitchen is a decent size if you want to prepare meals at home. With the double sofa bed in use, space will be tight, so we think it's best suited for four.

Whispering Waters

This villa overlooks the town of Bellagio and enjoys stunning mountain views. The kitchen and certain bathrooms might be a little dated, but the range of amenities makes this home great for families or couples. The wine cellar is well-stocked and the home gym is well-equipped, while the sauna and private pool offer fun and relaxation for all ages. Topping it all off is the private pool with sweeping views of Lake Como. We love this location not only for its beauty but for its practicality – you'll want a car for ease of getting around, but it's only a two-minute drive to the nearest restaurants and shops.

Chasing Dreams

The tight geometric lines of this home may seem incongruous against Lake Como’s lush natural landscape, but reserve judgment until you’ve come inside. As soon as you step into the living space, we’re sure you’ll agree that the stark decor and modernist architecture perfectly frames the view of the lake and the island of Comocina available from every window. Run by a local family, everything in this home is geared towards your enjoyment from the luxurious bedding to the fireplace which lights up dark evenings. Relax in the private infinity pool with the scent of jasmine and lavender drifting up from the garden overlooking what is, in our not-so-humble opinion, the best view in the whole region.
