This villa is an excellent spot in which to admire the natural beauty of Sardinia. Thanks to the home's elevated position, guests get a wonderful view of the dazzling blue waters of Porto Rotondo from the upper floors. However, don't be surprised if the paradisical garden immediately below grabs your attention, too.

Out here in among the colourful flower beds and handsome granite walls, you can while away lazy afternoons paddling about in the swimming pool, catching some rays on the loungers or cooking up a storm in the outdoor kitchen (complete with a barbecue and pizza oven).

Inside, the home is spread across four floors, so while there are plenty of stairs, it feels cool and airy, thanks to the high ceilings, stark white walls and terracotta tiling underfoot. There's a discernible rustic theme to the design, from the wicker chairs and natural-themed artwork to the large rock feature in the main entrance hall.

With the nautical location, you might not be surprised to learn that there are two beaches that can be reached in just over a quarter of an hour's walk (Spiaggia dei Sassi and di Ira), while the historic city of Olbia takes a similar amount of time to reach in the car, too. Closer to home, there are a handful of restaurants, bars and discos in the local area.

You’ll need to pay for your bed and bath linens – or bring your own – and we think hiring a car is a good idea if you want to get out to see more of north east Sardinia – and with these sea views, you'll be dying to hit the beach.

Featuring picturesque scenery – best viewed from the private terrace, this apartment offers a boutique hotel-like experience, with the added privacy of having your own cooking and dining facilities. While the swimming pool is shared with other guests staying in neighbouring apartments, the complex is quiet and residential and there are thirty apartments in total on-site. Separated into two buildings, three of the double-bedroom suites are located in the annexe. Meanwhile, the other two bedrooms are found alongside the living area and dining area in the main building. Additionally, the laundry room is bound to come in handy for those here on longer stays.

The pair of living areas across the home’s two floors means it’s perfect for groups looking for a bit of autonomy, and while bed linens and towels aren’t included here, we’re willing to overlook this for its fabulous locale and picture-perfect views. Elsewhere away from home, the crystal-blue waters of Golfo Aranci are 15 kilometres away and the beach of Liscia Ruja – one of the jewels of the Costa Smeralda – is 14 kilometres.

Catching a glimpse of the sea views from this apartment is love at first sight. This apartment sits just a few steps from the sea, and only 200 metres from Baia Caddinas, a gentle cove with fine white sand. As if that weren’t enough, you’ll also have access to two shared swimming pools, which look out to sea. The balcony is dreamy, and where you’ll likely spend most of your time, though the rest of the home is charming too. With two bathrooms, it’s plenty big enough for four. You'll need to pay for your linen unless you plan on bringing your own.

The open-plan living area features a small kitchen and comfortable sofas, while the bedrooms vary in size and are suitable for families (just note that only two rooms have air conditioning). Outside, a sea-facing terrace is a perfect spot to wine and dine in the fresh air. The resort also features a shared swimming pool, open for use during the summer months, and a restaurant. When you're ready to explore, you're just 150 metres from the sea and 300 metres from the closest beach.

Marinella Mornings

On a panoramic promontory, close to the glamour and glitz of the Costa Smeralda, this charming villa is the perfect base for exploring Sardinia’s splendid coast. The view over the Gulf of Portisco is the kind of sight we’ve been dreaming of all winter. Picture yourself soaking up the Sardinian sun beside the lagoon-like pool or gazing out over olive trees and deep blue ocean from the veranda. Inside provides a welcome respite from the heat of the midday sun, with cool terracotta floors, traditional furniture and local handicrafts. You’re 2km away from a string of white sand beaches, as well as the Marina di Portisco with its selection of waterfront restaurants. The characterful borgo of San Pantaleo is just inland and is ideal for picking up fresh produce for an Italian style feast come the evening. You’ll want to be back home before the sun goes down though, for an aperitif with a view.

If topping up your tan is high on your holiday to-do list, you’ll welcome the sight of the communal pool, surrounded by sun loungers. For those who prefer some quiet time to unwind with a book, the shaded terrace back at home is a real treat, with the sea views only adding to its appeal. You’ll need a car to get around and for local amenities in Golfo Aranci – exploring the island further is a must.

Often overlooked for its showier cousin – Costa Smeralda – the authentic port town of Olbia remains relatively untouched by tourism. Location wise, you’re a short drive from the centre of Golfo Aranci, where you’ll find a picturesque harbour and a selection of restaurants and bars, and a fifteen minute drive from the historic town of Olbia.

As if sat on the very edge of the world, this villa is in a slice of countryside and coastline that sings Sardinia’s highest praises. While the apartment may not be the most luxurious in our collection, the practical space works well for a family or two couples and you’ll have sea views from the private terrace and balcony. Further afield, the coastal town of Golfo Aranci, with its picturesque harbour and selection of bars and restaurants, is a 25 minute walk or a short drive away.

If location is king, this villa deserves to wear a crown. This seafront home is perched just above the sea that laps to shore on Quinta Spiaggia, which you can stroll to in just a few minutes. The sea views are stunning, and the home has been designed to make the most of them. A large terrace leads from the living room, so your eye is drawn to the water from almost every angle – including from the private heated swimming pool. This is a great home for a large group as there’s plenty of space. It’s also been fitted with a stair lift so can accommodate those with reduced mobility. You’ll need to pay for your linen though.

Just 150 metres from the beach, this fuss-free apartment may veer towards traditional, but it's cosy, comfortable, and contains all the essentials for a relaxed getaway. Set on the first floor, there are stairs to climb here, but they'll be worth it once you see the view. The sea-facing terrace is our favourite spot – it's perfect for soaking up the coastal scenery with a glass of wine in hand. On the resort, you'll also find a shared swimming pool and an on-site restaurant for easy meals.

If you're staying in a home situated on the Sardinian coastline, it would be a crying shame if the address didn't have an outdoor spot from which to admire the majesty of the local landscape. Thankfully, this apartment in the north of the island really delivers on the front.

Not only is there a large sun terrace with 180-degree views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and Tavolara island, but there are two further verandahs with alfresco tables and a well-kept garden. There are pleasant views out through the home's windows too, which, thanks to the elevated position, also bring in lots of natural light. This asset works particularly well with the bright and contemporary design throughout, from the white walls and glossy kitchen surfaces to the rather striking head sculpture in the living space.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, there's a rock beach only eighty metres from the home and the sandy Spiaggia Mare Rocce is two hundred metres' walk. There's a decent choice of restaurants in the surrounding town of Pittulongu, while you can find a wider choice, plus some archaeological ruins, in the city of Olbia, just over fifteen minutes' drive away.

The muted grey tones of the exterior are mirrored in the contemporary kitchen, while the dining room is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows offering the best views in the house.
