At the edge of a nature reserve, in a picturesque Sicilian village, right on the sea – this villa has it all. Ocean breeze scents the air with salt and rustles through the whitewashed archways framing the house. Known for its Baroque architecture, the beautiful town of Noto is a UNESCO world heritage site and can be reached in thirteen minutes by car. Along the shoreline from the villa there are seafront restaurants, bars, and sandy beaches to explore. The breathtaking Vendicari nature reserve is a twenty-four minute drive away, a paradise for birdwatching, where you’ll find hiking trails, pristine beaches, and blooming native plant life. After a day of exploring, fire up the barbecue and whip up some cocktails as you watch the sunset from your balcony.

The pull-out sofa bed in the living room is a nice touch, too, and it brings up the guest count by two. That being said, it may be better suited to kids, as privacy will be limited.

There’s plenty of room for you and your guests, while the bedrooms also offer flexible sleeping arrangements – just ask your host in advance. The rural location makes it an ideal spot for a relaxing retreat, whilst also providing easy access to the cultural centre of Noto and the sands of Lido di Noto.

Lemons & Lavender 

This peaceful oasis is nestled in the picturesque countryside of Noto. You can listen to the sweet sounds of nature while relaxing by the pool and there’s a wonderful shaded terrace with a barbecue for alfresco dining. Inside, the rooms offer character, comfort and all the essentials you could need to switch off and relax. Housekeeping can be arranged for an additional fee and private parking is available. Plus, it’s a great base for exploring the most beautiful spots in southeastern Sicily. From here, it’s just a short drive to the beaches of Calamosche and Isola delle Correnti, while the Baroque towns of Noto and Modica are also within easy driving distance. 

The Malena

Hidden among the olive trees of Syracuse, this home caught our eye with its seafront location and peaceful garden. It’s also a great base from which to explore the most stunning spots of the region – the Baroque cities of Syracuse and Noto are a short drive away, while the beaches of Avola and Fontane Bianche are also within easy reach. You will need a car here, but your host can help organise car rentals along with a range of excursions. And while the rooms are basic, we think most of your time will be spent outside, admiring the views from the jacuzzi. 

The Garden of Life

With Lido Scogliera Bianca beach quite literally on your doorstep and sea views stretching for miles, this home makes for a relaxing coastal retreat. Unfussy on the inside, it’s suitable for families of all ages due to its single-storey nature. With direct beach access, much time will be spent soaking up the rays from the sand. Still, for trips further afield, nearby Vendicari Nature Reserve, Portopalo di Capo Passero and the baroque towns of Syracuse, Modica, Scicli and Ragus Ibla are all worth a visit.
