But, with the beach practically on your doorstep and fantastic sea vistas to marvel at back home, you won't have to travel far to experience Sicilian life. There's also a private swimming pool and terrace ideal for alfresco dining, but the real draw is the rooftop, where a bubbling Jacuzzi awaits. The practical interiors could be more impressive – and two guests will sleep on the sofa bed – but the area, views, and sun-kissed outdoor spaces make it a good choice.

You're not seeing double. This home is made up of two neighbouring villas on the same estate. You'll have two of everything here – two private pools (though only one of these is open all year round), two gardens, and two rooftop terraces with sea views where you can watch the sunset. We think it's excellent for separate families or large friend groups craving independent spaces. You'll want a car here, as the baroque towns of Syracuse, Ragusa and Noto are within driving distance. Meanwhile, beach days are at your fingertips with the nearest sandy shore just 300 metres away.

Decorated in colour and deceptively large, you'll fall in love with this outdoor space the moment you see it. The expert layout means it packs a huge punch into the compact area – find a cosy pool, dining table under a pergola, cushioned seats and a cute garden patch with sun beds. 

The idyllic space is drenched in high-end amenities, and that's not even the best part. Every inch of the area showcases spectacular views of the rugged coastline melting into the Mediterranean Sea. It's one of the prettiest views in Sicily, and it belongs all to you.

You can admire the vistas from inside too, and we love that all the bedrooms open out onto a terrace or balcony.

A stone's throw from Agua Beach, this villa is situated in a seafront complex near sandy bars and eateries. The close proximity to the neighbouring homes may not suit private types but if you’re staying as a larger group, all three properties can be rented together. The outdoor living space promises peaceful views, a private pool, and relaxing seating spots, though one of the bedrooms can only be accessed from the terrace. Along the coast, you'll find the beautiful Nature Reserve of Vendicari. Or the baroque towns of Noto and Ragusa offer rewarding road trips.

The nearest sandy beach is just 300 metres away, but you will need a car to get to local amenities. Your host can help arrange car rentals, which will also come in handy if you’re looking to adventure further afield and explore the majestic towns of Syracuse, Ragusa and Noto.

The villa can be found just 100 metres from the seashore in South East Sicily. The pretty fishing village of Marzamemi is just a five-minute drive away, and the beautiful Vendicari Nature Reserve is seven minutes away. This is an ideal base from which to enjoy and explore all that this part of Sicily has to offer.

Eat breakfast on the covered terrace, enjoying the view of the gardens and pool, and beyond to the sea. We’d follow this with a dip in the beautiful pool, or by wandering down to the beach. Our favourite beach, San Lorenzo, is a nineteen-minute walk, or you can nip there in two minutes in the car. Spend the afternoon in Marzamemi, where you can stroll along the cobbled streets and treat yourself to some fresh seafood for lunch – there’s no shortage of picture-perfect eateries along the attractive harbour. 

You have a tough decision to make in the evening – do you watch the sunset from the roof terrace or from the hot tub in the pool? Wherever you choose to enjoy it, make sure you do so with a glass of local wine. Absolute bliss.

It is just a short walk from the nearest beach, where you'll find a selection of beach bars and restaurants that'll entice you out of the heat of the summer sun. Elsewhere, the picturesque fishing village of Marzamemi is just a few kilometres south. Here, colourful boats bob in the harbour, and narrow maze-like streets call out to be explored.

From its living spaces, each bedroom is uniquely designed with meticulous attention to detail. While it’s hard to pinpoint exactly which one is our favourite, we’re particular fans of the clever spiral bookshelf, swirly lamps, vibrant, intricate wallpaper, quirky mirrors and just about every other piece that gives this home its distinctive character. 

If you do manage to tear yourself away, head on out to the historic city of Syracuse, just ten minutes away by car, to sample local delicacies and sumptuous Sicilian wines, and shop for souvenirs of your time on this spectacular island. We highly recommend sampling some of the local seafood at one of the nearby restaurants, which is out of this world. With more to see than one getaway could fit in, we are sure you will never want to leave the island.

You'll have your pick of rooftop terraces to watch the sunset and private pools to splash about in (though it's worth noting that not all the pools are open throughout the year). We recommend hiring a car here if you're hoping to pay a visit to Noto or Marzamemi or spots like Mount Etna or the Vendicari nature reserve.
