This sunny home is a perfect Palm Springs base. It’s a beautiful and bright home, with high ceilings and charmingly eclectic decor – it’s lovingly described as a riot of colour. Adding to the colour palette are the lush greens from the garden, which boasts mountain views. 

In the morning, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed from a great night’s sleep in one of the cheerful bedrooms. Take your coffee out onto the terrace and plan your day. Will you dive right into the pool and spend the day out in the garden? It’s ever so tempting – there’s something for everyone, whether you plan on soaking up the sun, relaxing in the hot tub or floating in the pool gazing up at the mountains. You might fire up the barbecue for lunch and dine alfresco on the terrace. 

If you fancy exploring further afield, you might like to drive fifteen minutes to Indian Canyons. There are excellent trails for hiking, as well as horseback riding. Golfers might head instead to Escena Golf Club – it’s seven minutes away. In the evening, drive eight minutes to Downtown Palm Springs and choose from the restaurants and bars.

We're big fans of this Palm Springs pad. The single-level layout is ideal for guests with limited mobility, while the pops of colour and mid-century touches compliment the otherwise simple design – we think it works well with the area's retro aesthetic. Out in the garden, a hot tub, terrace, and private pool embody laid-back Cali living. This isn’t a party house, but it works for older families or groups of friends wanting to relax in the desert sunshine. And should you be in the mood for a livelier atmosphere, make your way downtown (just 3 miles away) for restaurants, bars and boutiques.

Pick up your favourite drop in Downtown Palm Springs, just a five-minute car ride away. The area is famous for its cocktail lounges, creative culinary scene and unmissable Aerial Tramway.

This home, designed by Palmer and Kriesel is hidden away in a Palm Springs cul-de-sac and has previously graced the pages of the New York Times. Homage to all things mid-century, with Eames chairs, Nelson lamps and a vintage Malm fireplace in the master bedroom.

We were wowed by the open living area, designed with socialising in mind and with great views of the backyard. Out in the garden, reclining by the shimmering turquoise pool is the perfect way to unwind, but if you need to take your relaxing to the next level, there’s also a hot tub to bubble the night away in. Dine alfresco under the endless desert sky, then end the evening around the flickering fire pit with a glass of something strong as the sun sets behind the mountains.

When you want to venture out, downtown Palm Springs is only a five-minute drive away, and Joshua Tree National Park, roughly an hour away, is a must-see for hikers and nature enthusiasts. Visit The Palm Springs Art Museum, an eight-minute drive away which features complex sculptures, glassworks, and photographs by renowned artists such as Andy Warhol and Diane Arbus.

It feels as though this place was made for entertaining with the open-plan layout and light-filled spaces, including an elegant living room with modern furnishings and curated houseplants that will have you relaxing in style. Originally built in 1935, you can find this vibrant villa in the sought-after Movie Colony East neighbourhood, known for its cosy restaurants and famous residents. In one of Palm Springs' most distinctive neighbourhoods, where Elvis and Priscilla honeymooned in 1967, this slice of mid-century architecture has all the hallmarks of the area's defining style. From its stone-clad exterior and atrium entrance to its vaulted ceilings and walls of windows, it's just as cool as it was back in the day. And with a list of former owners that includes Chicago department store tycoons the Marshall Field family, it's little wonder there's a certain sophisticated atmosphere to the place. It's old-school Palm Springs at its very best.
