Stepping out to look around the garden, you'll notice tall swaying palms, vibrant red chairs and a sparking saline swimming pool with an integrated waterfall spa. Here, you'll also find a barbecue island bar with chic stools to perch on while sipping cocktails – we certainly know where we'd spend our time. Sliding glass doors welcome you into the living space, blurring the boundaries between outside and in, so you can gaze into the picturesque mountain silhouettes whether you are. Inside, there's a modern look with high vaulted ceilings, polished marble floors and a swanky chef's kitchen – enjoy a quick cup of coffee around the curved breakfast bar. Bright and roomy, all the bedrooms have their own personalities and open up to an outside area. They're also accompanied by some seriously stunning en-suite bathrooms – we could think of nothing better than taking a long soak in the freestanding bathtub to wash that chlorine off. In a historic tennis club neighbourhood, you're surrounded by great walking trails as well as the Palm Canyon Drive that will take just a six-minute car ride to reach. Flourishing with upscale shops, indie coffee houses and some excellent restaurants, there's plenty to explore. A sixteen-minute stroll north will find you in Downtown Palm Springs, boasting fancy boulevards and the glitz and glam of Hollywood. With so much around you, we think this mid-century pool pad is as convenient as it is stylish.

When The Dust Settles

With restaurants and coffee shops on your doorstep, and the heart of downtown just a short stroll away, this home in central Palm Springs is something a bit different. Set in a gated community with a shared outdoor pool and hot tub, it comes with outside space and a private double carport. And it's not exactly the shy and retiring type, with colourful furnishings, bold artwork and contemporary styling.

The sociable living space on the ground floor centres around a fireplace and two sets of sliding doors open to the courtyard garden, complete with a dining table and barbecue. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking at home and there's an atomic-age touch to the dining area with its Panton-style chairs. Upstairs, we love the size of the bedrooms – particularly the double-height master with its big balcony with views all the way to the mountains. It's the perfect place for coffee before heading to the pool for a swim each morning.

If the interiors of this minimalist home appear to have jumped straight out of the pages of a glossy magazine, you’re not far off. This home, designed by Palmer and Kriesel is hidden away in a Palm Springs cul-de-sac and has previously graced the pages of the New York Times. Homage to all things mid-century, with Eames chairs, Nelson lamps and a vintage Malm fireplace in the master bedroom.

We were wowed by the open living area, designed with socialising in mind and with great views of the backyard. Out in the garden, reclining by the shimmering turquoise pool is the perfect way to unwind, but if you need to take your relaxing to the next level, there’s also a hot tub to bubble the night away in. Dine alfresco under the endless desert sky, then end the evening around the flickering fire pit with a glass of something strong as the sun sets behind the mountains.

When you want to venture out, downtown Palm Springs is only a five-minute drive away, and Joshua Tree National Park, roughly an hour away, is a must-see for hikers and nature enthusiasts. Visit The Palm Springs Art Museum, an eight-minute drive away which features complex sculptures, glassworks, and photographs by renowned artists such as Andy Warhol and Diane Arbus.

Pow! This Mid-Century Modern house certainly has visual impact. From kitsch gold taps in the bathroom to the African nick-nacks adorning every surface in the living room, its style is best described as “more is more”. Every care has been taken to preserve this home in its original 1950s glamour, when its owner ran the famed Chi Chi Lounge, frequented by celebrity clientele who’d pop over to his house for Sunday brunch. You can easily imagine Frank Sinatra propped up at the private bar in the lounge, or sipping a cocktail by the kidney-shaped pool outside. Why not channel Ol’ Blue Eyes with a singsong around the piano after a day exploring all that Palm Springs has to offer. Originally built in 1935, you can find this vibrant villa in the sought-after Movie Colony East neighbourhood, known for its cosy restaurants and famous residents. Boasting a spacious yard with a private pool, spend your days relaxing on a sun lounger and cooling off in the water, but if you're looking for a little adventure, there's plenty to be had in the city.

Green spaces like Ruth Hardy Park offer picturesque jogging and picnic spots, while Wellness Park is ideal for some quiet meditation in the warm open air.
