The long black leather sofas in the lounge are great for movie nights, while the kitchen has enough space and appliances to host a dinner party. The bedrooms each have their own colour scheme too; the master suite is decked out in cooling greens, with a modern print hanging above the comfy bed. Things are just as bright in the third bedroom, where three queen-size beds mix up red furnishings against white walls. On warm evenings (so just about all of them), take to the beach – but make sure you're back in time for a piña colada and a barbecue on the Tiki-themed terrace as the sun sets.

San Tiki Hideaway

Just a one-minute walk from Mission Beach in sunny San Diego, this beautiful beach cottage is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing coastal break. Built in the 1930s and stunningly renovated with a boho-beach vibe, you’ll feel instantly laid-back from the moment you walk through the door. Wood floors, white walls and bamboo blinds set the scene in the bright living room with its Dutch door to let the ocean breeze flow through, while the master bedroom exudes beach bliss with its wall of wicker ornaments. The second bedroom has a peaceful jungle feel with its forest green walls and even has a desk space with built-in charging ports should you need to catch up on emails before a day of sun and sand. Outside on the front porch, there’s a deck set up with a table and chairs ready to host alfresco dinners and lazy afternoons enjoying the welcome snacks and drinks provided. From here, you're also within easy reach of the peninsula's shop-lined artery, Mission Boulevard, brimming with hip cafés and delectable eateries for those post-surf nibbles.

This home impresses from the outset with its multi-tiered concrete facade. The chic, free-flowing interior exudes calm, cloaked in rich, earthy tones and bursts of colour. Large windows usher in floods of sunlight, and we love the open-plan living space, primed for entertaining with plush upholstery, a spacious breakfast bar and a fully-equipped kitchen. Though, the real highlight is the outdoor space. Positioned across three levels, a balcony, barbecue patio, and furnished sundeck offer sweeping views of the bay and the Pacific Ocean's endless blue. After a day of adventure, rustle up an alfresco feast on the grill or enjoy a glass of wine on the rooftop patio as the sun dips below the horizon. 

Glimpse of Paradise

California is the land of “go with the flow," and nothing is easier than enjoying a stay in this cosy studio. The iconic art museums of Balboa Park and the historic streets of the Gaslamp Quarter are only a 15-minute drive away, but the true attraction here is the beach – this home is just moments from some of San Diego’s most beautiful beaches and coastal paths. It’s also a short drive from downtown San Diego if you’re craving city life, or you can get your nature fix exploring the scenic coastal paths.

Sail Bay is just a few metres away, while Mission Beach's long sandy shoreline is only a five-minute walk from your front door. And, for those that prefer to stay on dry land, Belmont Park is just a fifteen-minute walk away, while the historic Gaslamp Quarter is a fifteen-minute car ride.

With Mission Bay Aquatic Center located just steps away, and breakfast spots, coffee houses, pubs and restaurants all within close walking distance – you needn't lift so much as a finger when it comes to meal times. However, it's nice to have the option of cooking at the villa, should you wish to rustle up your own recipes too. 

Spread across three levels, watch the sailboats glide across the bay from anywhere in the home – whether that's from the top-floor balcony or down on the ground-level patio with lounge seating. Grab a drink and station yourself ready to watch the sunset over the bayfront. Bliss. We couldn't think of a dreamier way to start and end your days here than with a leisurely stroll along the bayside boardwalks. Or better still, make footprints in the sand as you listen to the waves crash before you on the beach itself. 





Non Stop Waves 

Head out the door of this immaculate beach house and you’ll find yourself just seconds away from the golden sands of Mission Beach. Inside, the cool coastal palette reflects the dreamy beachfront location, with accents of driftwood and natural rattan, and there are excellent views of the ocean from the large sun deck. Be the first to bag a spot on the sand and set up camp for the day – the host supplies beach chairs, boogie boards and towels so you’ll be well equipped. That said, you’re so close that you can easily zip back for a forgotten umbrella or some sun cream. If you’re a thrill-seeker, hop on one of the supplied beach cruisers and ride the half mile down the front to Belmont Park’s Big Dipper. As the sun starts to dip in the sky, de-sand the kids ahead of pre-dinner drinks on the outdoor sofa. There’s a barbecue, and the sleek kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, but if you’d rather somebody else did the work, then you’re within walking distance of Mission Beach’s colourful restaurants and cafes.


Stay Classy

Prepare to be left speechless by the view as you open up the 32-foot retractable sliding doors to soak up the ocean breeze at this beachfront home. With glass walls offering unobstructed views of the beach and boardwalk, you'll be awestruck from the moment you arrive. The open concept kitchen is perfect for entertaining, with its sleek counters, polished stainless steel accents and imported stone flooring. Though it's not the biggest space, the floor plan has been cleverly designed to include a cool dining nook and plush living area, and a quick slide of the glazed frontage makes the space immediately double in size. With the soft, powdery sand of the beach literally on your doorstep, we doubt you'll want to go far. But if you do, you'll find an array of shops, restaurants and bars just a stone's throw away. 

My Blue Ocean

Located just north of San Diego and within sight of the Pacific Ocean, this charming suburban home in La Jolla is ideally laid out for an extended family get-together. While the interior may lack some wow factor, its rooftop terrace perfectly complements the area's gorgeous warm weather. The proximity to the beach is a real bonus here too - the nearest is a five-minute walk, while further along you'll find many more. And if you are travelling with family, the San Diego Zoo and Legoland are just a short drive away.
